1964 Untouchables Ridgeview High School football team honored at CVCC Black History Celebration February 27

From Catawba Valley Community College Reports

Catawba Valley Community College will honor the 1964 Untouchables Ridgeview High School Football team during its annual Black History Celebration, Tues., Feb. 27.

Ridgeview went 12-0 in 1964, winning the Western Class AA championship for black schools that season. A winning season was impressive enough, but another sports stat keeps the conversation going more than 54 years later: the Panthers scored 446 points that season. Their opponents? Zero.

Untouchables team members attending will be presented with a medallion to recognize their winning season. The custom designed medallions were created by the college’s Computer Integrated Machining program faculty member Steven Roads

Family members of the Untouchables are encouraged to attend.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with a meal in the college’s Tarlton Complex. The event is FREE and open to the public.
