Catawba County Faces Demographic Shift

There is a demographic shift happening in communities across the nation as Baby Boomers, those born between 1946 and 1964, reach retirement age – an aging population.

Catawba County leaders are working hard to address the demographic shift and attract newcomers to the area.

By the year 2050, the population of people aged 65 and older is projected to be 83.7 million, nearly doubling the estimated projection of 43.1 million in 2012, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
