Lenoir-Rhyne is a private, coeducational university affiliated with the N.C. Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and open to students from all religious backgrounds. We enroll about 1850 students in the liberal arts, sciences, and pre-professional programs. Our sports teams compete in Division II of the NCAA and in the South Atlantic  Conference (SAC).

The Appalachian Center at Hickory is a center within CVCC where colleges and universities provide undergraduate degree-completion and graduate degree programs through off-campus programs for students in the Hickory, NC area. The center is located on East Campus of CVCC.

Degree-seeking students from throughout the Greater Hickory Metro area apply to the participating institutions. Upon admittance, students attend off-campus programs in Hickory, NC, or study on-line, and earn their degrees.
