Catawba Valley Community College is offering parents of 10th graders a unique “insider look” at how their child can earn tuition-free college credits while in high school.

Parents are invited to attend the “10th Grade Extravaganza” on Wednesday, October 11. Parents can learn about academic course offerings high school students may take through the Career and College Promise Program (CCP).

Offered at all local high schools online and on the CVCC campus, the CCP programgives qualified high school students the opportunity to earn college credit that can be applied to an Associates in Arts or Associates in Science that can then transfer to all public and many private colleges or universities. Students can also choose to earn credits in the many technical careers offered at CVCC.

Parents will have an opportunity to talk informally with faculty members, admissions representatives and Career Services staff. Parents will learn about online tools CVCC offers that better prepares their child for a career and college.

Six 30-minute sessions for parents are scheduled in the East Wing Auditorium with an optional campus tour following the presentation:

·       9:00 am – 9:30 am

·       9:40 am – 10:10 am

·       12:15 pm – 12:40 pm

·       12:50 pm – 1:15 pm
