Eaton presented the college with electrical equipment that will update and enhance its instructional abilities for students enrolled in its Electrical Systems Technology diploma and Industrial Systems Technology associates degree programs. The equipment is identical to that used in current residential electrical installations.

Valued at more than $4,000, the donation consists of eight 100-amp residential panels with breakers for wiring receptacles and lighting. Eighteen state-of-the art 20-amp single pole Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) circuit breakers were donated as well as six 30-amp two-pole whole house surge suppression units.

“As the demand for qualified Electrical and Industrial technicians grows in western North Carolina, I want CVCC graduates to be working on our Eaton equipment,” said Hal Howard, lead sales engineer for the Eaton Corporation. “This equipment allows CVCC graduates—the future installers and specifiers—to be trained on state-of-the-art equipment, meeting all current National Electrical Codes and industry standards.”
