Students in Catawba Valley Community College’s advertising and graphic design program get to combine real world, professional experience with a chance to help benefit the local community every time they reach the spring semester of their second year in the program.
During that period, students create their own advertising agencies and seek out work from local nonprofit organizations. One group in CVCC professor Jennifer Cobb’s class got a chance to help the Longview Lions Club raise money to benefit the visually impaired.
The team of four students coordinated with Lions Club member Dawson Hart to design the promotional material for the third annual Lion Prowl Poker Run in May. It included the graphic design for commemorative T-shirts.
