Mebane White wins Hickory Public Schools spelling bee

Grandview Middle’s Mebane White won this year’s Hickory Public Schools district spelling bee.

She battled past 18 other elementary and middle school students in seven rounds to finally clinch the championship.

With the district win, White moves on to the Charlotte Observer regional spelling bee on Feb. 19.
