
A key takeaway for Catawba County Schools from the recent state accountability data release was St. Stephens Elementary coming off the low-performing schools list after being on it the last three years.
The district had two other schools come off the list as well, Catawba Elementary and Maiden Middle. Both schools met growth and had a school performance grade of a C while St. Stephens exceeded growth.
Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction DeAnna Finger said there are several things that made a difference for St. Stephens Elementary, but what stands out the most to her is the idea of collective teacher efficacy.
